CUBE: SENSORY INSTALLATION
project year: 2017
project site: portable containers
In recent years there has been a lot of discussion in the design industry about food as an experience rather than a product. In most cases, food manufacturers have little control over the way their customers consume and perceive the quality of their product. Ultimately, how we perceive food with our senses is influenced by our personal biases and learned associations. Additionally, factors like the environment, the colour of a room and our emotions can also influence our sensory experience. This sensory ‘experience’ is a multi-modal perception, including taste, smell, touch, sound, and sight.
This project explores how by changing and manipulating the sensory experience of eating food, the food itself can appear to taste differently and the experience of eating can be more enjoyable.
